$1 Memory Walk Challenge

Hello out there :)

We are down to a week until the Memory Walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year!

I am challenging all my family/friends to try to sponsor me/donate $1 this last week to see how much we can get together in time to donate to the walk on Saturday. To date you have helped me raise $171 - with your help on this challenge there is no telling how much we can have by the end of the week by just donating $1! Let’s see what we can do to make a difference this week ;) I will also post this on my online community pages to get the help from my many friends on those too ;) If everyone participates I think we could easily raise $4-500!!!!

You can donate through my personal web page at the following link:

http://memorywalk09.kintera.org/huntsville/inhonorofbettythomley

Or, I have a team page – which you can use to make your donation or even sign up to fundraise/walk with us. It isn’t too late to join us ;) Here is that link:

http://memorywalk09.kintera.org/huntsville/teamrememberwhen

If you’d like to give me cash or a check to turn in, then just let me know. They have designated Thursday the 24th as bank day for us to stop by the office and get the rest of our money turned in to them, but we will be able to turn money in the morning of the walk on the 26th too.

I also still have some bracelets and maybe a few pins left – the bracelets are $1 and the pins are $5. They are both cute!

I have a few extra yard signs if anyone is interested in placing one in their yard to help spread the word – I just need to collect them back up and turn them in after the walk (they are re-using them next year).

Feel free to forward along to others you think may be interested in helping out too!

For those who don’t know, this cause is very close to my heart – my Granny Betty is in the final stage of Alzheimer’s Disease. I am 3 hours away and can’t contribute to her daily care, so this gives me a way to “do” something to try to help. Please remember her, my parents and her caregivers as they provide 24/7 care for her. This is a most terrible illness!!! I didn’t really understand how terrible it was until my granny got it – it is so hard to see her have to go through all of this. She is certainly not easy to care for either. It is hard on everyone involved.

Thanks for your help!!!

Support my Memory Walk Campaign

Today an estimated 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. In addition, 78 million baby boomers are approaching the age of greatest risk for developing this fatal disease. Now is the time to ACT to end this epidemic!

This year, to support those affected by Alzheimer's, I'm participating in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® to raise funds and awareness to fight this disease.

I walk in honor of my grandmother, Betty Thomley, who is currently fighting the final stage of alzheimer's.

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research, and funds I raise will go directly toward supporting their efforts.I know I can make a difference with your support! Will you consider making a donation? It's easy to give online by following the link below.Thank you in advance for your time and generosity - together, we can help end Alzheimer's!

Visit my page at http://memorywalk09.kintera.org/huntsville/inhonorofbettythomley and help me in my efforts to support Alzheimer's Association Mid South Chapter.

No donation is too small or big – everything helps!

I am also looking for team members – if you’d like to join my team just click on “Team Page” under the website page heading and it will take you to my Team Web Page where you will have the option to join the team. The walk is on Sept. 26th – registration at 8 AM with closing ceremonies at 10AM at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.

Please forward this along to your family, friends and co-workers too :) We need all the help we can get!

I'm getting HITCHED :)

HAPPY NEWS :)

James and I have decided to get married :) James wants to get married in June because he loves that month of the summer, so we are shooting for June 6th. We want to get married on the beach in Panama City Beach where James grew up, so we can’t say for sure on a date just yet because we have to get some plans made with a wedding company down there to see what dates they have available – not sure how booked up they are going to be.

We are very EXCITED :)

Aunt Norma's House gets hit by a truck!

High-speed chase ends in Destin house Comments 0 Recommend 0 February 17, 2009 - 11:40 AM Jenni Rich Florida Freedom Newspapers DESTIN - Waking up early on a Monday morning is not usually a treat - especially when it's because there is a red Ford pickup truck parked in the guest room of your home. "It sounded like a thud and the dogs started barking," homeowner Norma Calhoun said. It was a quiet morning in the cul-de-sac of Seaview Circle as the Calhoun household was sound asleep, and next-door neighbor Sara Harris was rising around 4 a.m. to get ready to head off to her nursing job. "She heard a car coming at high speed," husband Gary Harris said. It was a 2001 Ford that led deputies on a high speed chase from Fort Walton Beach. The truck was traveling south on Eglin Parkway when police clocked the vehicle going 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer pulled in behind the truck with lights on and called in a traffic stop, but the driver had other plans. The truck did not stop and the report said that the driver proceeded onto eastbound U.S. 98, accelerating at speeds up to 80 mph, swerving all over the road as he crossed Okaloosa Island. The report said the driver almost ran the truck off the roadway near the sea wall. Fort Walton Beach police in pursuit were joined by Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies as the truck crossed the Marler Bridge into Destin. The driver sped up Marler Street and tried to lose the units in the back streets of Destin until he made the mistake of turning onto Seaview, a street that ends in a cul-de-sac. The truck made tracks across the Calhouns' lawn and crashed into the front guest room of their home, just missing their porch. "My grandson just moved out, thank God," Norma said. "He would have been there." After the impact, the driver and a passenger fled on foot. The driver escaped into the dark, but the passenger was apprehended. The passenger said that the driver, a young male approximately 25-years-old, was someone he just met. The owner of the truck is a Niceville woman that was called from the scene. Gary said that he was standing nearby as the officer spoke with the woman and she told the officer that the truck was primarily driven by her son, but that he loans it out to a lot of people. After the truck was pulled from the home, the Calhouns were left with a gaping hole through the brick siding and sheet rock. The impact knocked the big double window off its mount and into the home. The shrubbery lining the front of the home kept the damage from being worse than it was. An evergreen "that's been there forever" kept the truck from penetrating the brick home even more. "It was almost on the bed," Calhoun said. Ironically, the Calhouns were set to have a security system with surveillance installed next week. "We've been in this house 30 years and been through every hurricane, and this is the worst damage," Norma said, adding that they have never had more than $1,000 worth of damage happen to the home at once. The truck lifted the rafters of the home, causing more damage to the foundation than meets the eye. "You don't wake up every morning with a truck in your house," Norma said.

Arbonne 3 Day Anti-aging Face care Kit Available

My sponsor has loaned be her 3 day trial kit for the Anti-aging face care line - she loaned it to me last week and will be out of town next week so I get to keep it one more week!
I finally got to try these products out last night and this morning and they ARE awesome!!! You use them for 3 days and can see a difference after just those 3 days of usage! I saw a difference when I got up this morning just after one application! The fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes were gone! I am definitely going to have to get me some of that eye cream :) My favorite product was the first one I used last nite, the exfoliating facial scrub - of course I am a scrub freak anyway so it is only fitting that it was my fave. It smells so good too - citrus-y.
Anyhoo, since I get to hang on to the kit a little longer just let me know if you want to try the products out for 3 days and see what they do for your skin.
